Six (24/25 West End Cast) at the Vaudeville Theatre

Updated: Mar 4

Always a pleasure to return to the palace. This was 14th time watching this brilliant show but my first time seeing the 24/25 West End Cast. This cast are out of this world and I cannot wait to return soon to hopefully watch more of the principals and swalts shine.

My Review:

This was my first time seeing this cast of Six and I was completely blown away by their talent they are all absolutely out of this world and I can't wait to see them perform again.

Nikki Bentley is a phenomenal performer who is perfect for the role of Catherine of Aragon especially as she hit that top C. So, you know! Her riffs during No Way were truly out of this role and she brought a new life and perspective to this song and character for me. Naomi Alade has me losing my head over her fabulous portrayal of Anne Boleyn with her comedic timing and incredible voice, she is a joy to watch. Kaeli McKinight has me completely lost for words with her portrayal of Jane Seymour. Her heavenly vocals and absolutely insane ending in Heart of Stone brought me to tears. Reca Oakley was fabulous as Anna of Cleves. Her Get Down was so much fun to watch and alongside her amazing voice, she captured the personality of Cleves. It has to be said that through this show, Inez Budd was the queen of facial expressions. Beyond that, she stunned the audience to silence during All You Wann Do and I'm not surprised. From her immature joy at the start to the complete switch-up at the end, this song was truly moving and brought me to tears. Her final chorus was the final nail in the coffin for a truly incredible performance, and her reactions to other cast members during this moment whilst maintaining an impeccable singing voice is a testament to her talent. Janiq Charles as Catherine Parr was sweet and polite but also powerful and honest and this range made for a brilliant portrayal of Parr. Her I Don't Need Your Love was incredible and she wowed me with her out-of-this-world riffs.

If you are a fan of this show or just want to see it please go and see this cast as I can assure you that you will not be disappointed.

Content Warnings:

Six does not have any content warnings as this show does not tend to trigger people, so this section will be fairly short. Instead, I will mention the moments that I noted whilst watching the show that I felt may prove upsetting to some people:

  • The queens use miscarriages as a way to compete with each other

  • All You Wanna Do verbally and visually (through dance and movements) shows the sexual abuse that Katherine Howard experienced throughout her life

  • The show has obvious and less obvious sexual innuendos throughout

Thank you for taking the time to read and I hope this review has proved interesting and helpful for you :)
